Ras el Hanout Blend 1.5 oz
Ras el hanout is a North African spice blend that typically includes over a dozen different spices. Our blend includes the three highly prized and expensive spices saffron, vanilla, and cardamom and has a nose full of spicy ginger perfume that tickles your nose. On the tongue you will be embraced by a fleeting blush of vanilla immediately followed by a sultry mouthful of ginger spice tempered with cardamom. The heat lingers in a rich and lavish finish that goes on for a good 1-2 minutes. Rub this blend on fish or poultry or add to soups or tagines with vegetables or rice. Ras el Hanout is Arabic for “head of the shop” or as we would say “top shelf” and reflects a mixture of the best spices a seller has to offer. The word Ras el Hanout first appears in the famous travelogue written by the Arab 14th century world traveler, Ibn Battuta, in which he describes the cultures and cuisines of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia over his 24-year journey. Ibn Battuta fancied himself something of a gourmet and yearned for the foods and spices of his native Morocco of which Ras el Hanout was the most prized. Luckily, we’ve found some of the very best for you to enjoy!
