Turkish Delight Hot Chocolate with Urfa Biber and Cinnamon

YIELD: 1 serving        PREP TIME: 5 min          COOK TIME: 12 min


  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon ground Vietnamese Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Urfa Biber Pepper flakes
  • 1 ounce dark chocolate finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugard
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • whipped cream (optional)



In a small saucepan, simmer milk and cinnamon over medium-low heat, whisking occasionally, until cinnamon is fragrant (~8 minutes). Be careful to not boil milk. Then whisk in chocolate, Urfa Biber flakes, sugar, vanilla, and salt until chocolate is melted and the hot chocolate is creamy and smooth (~3 minutes). Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream if desired.

The hot chocolate as prepared above is slightly thick and could almost be served as a dessert. For thinner hot chocolate add additional milk.
